چکیده

In wireless networks, wireless channels are often shared between multiple nodes, which may interfere when they transmit simultaneously. The media access control (MAC) scheme coordinates channel access between the different nodes. In this article, we focus one specific method of channel access, Elimination-Yield Non-Preemptive Priority Multiple Access, EYNPMA, which is part of the European standard wireless HIPERLAN [1]. EY-NPMA is a wireless MAC method that partly relies on “active signaling”: i.e. transmitting (activity) to simply signal a node’s presence (with pseudo-noise), rather than transmitting data (bits). In this article, we study the adaptation of EY-NPMA named Ey-Wifi as an extension of the 802.11-based standards. Our main focus is the implementation of a such an extension in a module of the network simulator, ns-3, with the emphasis on the software architecture.

MODELING AND SIMULATION OF IEEE 802.11 WLANs: A CASE STUDY OF A NETWORK SIMULATOR

Stochastic discrete event simulation methodology is becoming increasingly popular among network researchers around the world in recent years. This is partly because of the availability of various sophisticated and powerful simulation software packages, but also because of the flexibility in model construction and validation. This paper describes our experience in using the ns-2 network simulato...

3D Path Planning Algorithm for Mobile Anchor-Assisted Positioning in Wireless Sensor Networks

Positioning service is one of Wireless Sensor Networks’ (WSNs) fundamental services. The accurate position of the sensor nodes plays a vital role in many applications of WSNs. In this paper, a 3D positioning algorithm is being proposed, using mobile anchor node to assist sensor nodes in order to estimate their positions in a 3D geospatial environment. However, mobile anchor node’s 3D path optim...

Snapshot of MAC, PHY and Propagation Models for IEEE 802.11 in Open-Source Network Simulators

Simulation is an essential component of the validation chain in the design of network protocols. Indeed, while simulation is not the only tool used for data networking research, it is extremely useful because it often allows research questions and prototypes to be explored at many orders-of-magnitude less cost and time than that required to experiment with real implementations and networks. In ...

A synchronous, reservation based medium access control protocol for multihop wireless networks

We describe a new synchronous and distributed medium access control (MAC) protocol for multihop wireless networks that provides bandwidth guarantees to unicast connections. Our MAC protocol is based on a slotted time division multiple access (TDMA) architecture, with a multi-mini-slotted signaling phase scheduling data transmissions over slots in the following data phase. Resolving contentions ...

802.11 MAC Protocol Improvement Technique

Wireless networking is the mostly used networking technique in this era of telecommunication.when the term wireless„comes, it reminds the importance of 802.11 mac protocol. For the rural areas like villages, 802.11 mac protocol plays a important role for networking because of its cost, which is very low as compared to the other networking. Moreover the mac protocol provides higher rate of data ...
